To address the need for efficient management and meaningful ideas to support Latvian culture and education, the leaders of the Riga Latvian Society initiated the 1st Latvian Singing Festival in 1873. Initially, only four individuals were involved, but soon Latvians, Baltic Germans, Russians, and members of influential society joined forces, along with numerous volunteers from Riga, Livonia, and Courland governorates. Despite the challenges that women faced in this historic period, twenty-year-old Anna overcame obstacles to follow her desire to participate in singing. Through singing, she found self-assurance, strength, and a sense of unity, which flourished in unison with the Latvian nation. Anna became a symbol of women's freedom.
